Discount Headstones
Proffessional or not so much?
Are you trying to save time and money by looking for discount headstones? Sure it should be simple and easy to do but can you be one hundred percent satisfied in purchasing from an online retailer or discount storefront? This blog is dedicated to educating you with some tips before making that final decision and we hope it will change your mind about some of the low quality, impersonal scams. The memory of a loved one is a serious matter and we want you to be happy with your purchase.
Many places sell discount headstones. Especially online. Now this may seem like a good way to save time, money, and hassle but what sort of monument are you really getting? There can be frequent problems with monuments bought online. Shipping damages that are not covered by the retailer, little if no refunds on damaged or poorly made designs, lightly blasted names that fade within a few years, impure granite that easily chips and cracks in the long run, and many more simple things that you might not see or consider right away. If you choose to order online other responsibilities such as adherence to cemetery regulations, pouring of foundations, and the actual setting of the stone become your problem whereas most local dealers include these services. Many of the problems don’t get noticed until the stone has set for several years and by then it’s too late. So, how can you be sure you are getting the best? Get to know the company your buying from.
There are small storefronts that advertise themselves as accredited or local dealers (and they may very well be) but where does their granite actually come from? Do you know who actually does the work on the stone? Many smaller dealers do not have a direct involvement in the building of your stone. You walk in, purchase what you see in the showroom, and later the stone arrives. What you don’t know is that they have commissioned a third party to do the work on your stone and can overcharge you for a less than perfect quality granite at a “discounted price.” Get to know your monument dealers and see if they really know what they are talking about and have a personal hand in creating your memorial. One of the best things to look for is a company that does their own carving, artwork, and blasting in-house. Does the storefront have a local manufacturing facility that can assure their products for life and not just the first week? You could even ask to take a tour of the local production plant. Many smaller dealers will not guaruntee their products once they have been set in the cemetery and may charge you for mess ups, even if it is their fault. There is something to be said about the history and family values in a local reputable monument company. Get to know them.
